The First Autonomous Government Board of Quito was formed by a group of rebels in response to the Napoleonic invasion and which constituted in Ecuador and other countries of the region as the First Cry of Hispano-American Independence , an event that constituted the beginning of emancipation in the Latin American countries.
The managers of this event are known as the patriots of August 10, 1809 . 32 of these rebels, among whom were intellectuals, doctors, marquises and Creoles residing in Quito, ended up being imprisoned and later murdered on the orders of Ruiz de Castilla in the well-known Mutiny of August 2, 1810.
